Hi,

i am having issues with soft resets. so far i have up and running on the controller, led pwm lighting on the preset setting, 1 ph probe and joyreef. i have found recently that it stays up and running during the night and morning, but when the lights come on i lose network (joyreef) then when i get home, either all is working except internet and touch not responding, still updates though, or other case screen is blank but controller is still working in the background as the lights work.

also, while lights are dimming down, it also soft resets (doesnt properley reboot, screen stays on) but the lights go off then slowly dim up back to full and i lose network (joyreef). to get functions back i have to do a reboot.

i know its a bit vague but i have tried all connections and cables and they seem good and now im out of ideas :((

Hi!

The GND from LED power supply is connected to Arduino GND?

Best regards.

Yes. Everything runs from the same power supply.

12v psu > led drivers, 12v fans, 5v stepdown for arduino and 5v circuit

The 5v stepdown connects straight to the arduino 5v and gnd pins

This is the stepdown I am using item 291314061822 on ebay

Could it be that the screen, arduino, pH stamp, 6 pwm channels for leds and 2 for fans, stamp mux chip, rtc and ethernet shield is too much for it all at once?

Hi!

What's the maximum current to this power supply?

Best regards.

Hmm, I used to run 4 x 1 amp light channels off it and now run 4 x 1 amp plus 1 x .7 amp and a moonlight and it is a 5 amp psu so although the 5v stepdown can handle 2 amp, the psu can't do 7 amps. I will try separating the 5v circuit to a different psu and see how it copes then report back.

I have separated the 5v circuit by using a 5v 2.1a ipad charger to the megas usb port, then the mage powers the clock etc with gnd linked to the 12v circuit. I will see how stable it is now when the lights come on...

I now have the 12v psu supplying power to the led's and fans. A separate 5v 1a phone charger powering the 5v circuit like stamps, rtc etc and then the arduino, screen and ethernet powered via the usb socket from a 2a ipad charger. these are all grounded together and im still getting reboots often. when it reboots it also keeps the same state as when it stopped, so if it stopped with the leds on but the fans off, it stays like that and the heatsink keeps getting hotter and hotter without the fan coming on.

is there something i can put in the code to log it then look at that when it reboots to see what is happening?

Hi!

Problem of reset normally is related with short circuit.

Which circuit you are using for LEDs and fans?

Best regards.

Turned out that the Multiplexer chip was mulfunctioning and had also fried the ph stamp. Once this had been disconnected, the resets stopped and it has been running well since.
